SALISBURY, Md. – Every home needs to be saturated with the love of reading, especially homes with children, and the Eastern Shore Reading Council (ESRC) is continually promoting literacy to every home on the Lower Eastern Shore. With its ongoing support of Habitat for Humanity, the ESRC donated a new bookshelf and age appropriate books to this new homeowner and his three young children.

One Wicomico County family will have more reading time at home with a new addition of a bookshelf filled with books donated by the Eastern Shore Reading Council.

“Exposing young children to books and having them sit down with their parents to read is very important to their development,” ESRC President Lizanne Wallace indicated as the council continues its outreach to promote literacy. “We want every child to have that love and excitement of opening up a new book.”

The ESRC has partnered with Habitat for Humanity for numerous years in its outreach efforts to promote literacy by providing books to those new homeowners and their children.
